LONGING FOR THE LIGHT
My first CD was recorded in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on Easter morning. The five songs popped out like eggs, which is appropriate for Easter morning – and hatched they did!! The CD arranges these five pieces exactly as they came out and with no special effects or trickery. I had long mused about recording and on this particular trip to Europe, decided to search out a studio. I was fortunate enough to find one with exactly the same piano as I enjoy at home – a Yamaha D3 – and a friendly and appreciative atmosphere.
My music is hard to classify. Some simply call it beautiful, relaxing, soothing and/or emotional. Others say it reminds them of contemporary improvisational artists like Keith Jarrett or George Winston. Still others are captivated by the symphonic dynamics reminiscent of neo-classicists like Debussy, Grieg and Rachmaninoff. Regardless, it was music that needed to come out, and now, several years later, I still marvel at the sounds and texture and the moments of haunting beauty.
